MONDAY (3/23)
- The Secret Life of the American Teenager (ABC Family, 8pm): “Amy gives birth to her son and has a difficult time adjusting to life as a mom.” Unfortunately for her, society is no longer interested in single mothers of one child.
- Gossip Girl (CW, 8pm): “Lily and Rufus make lists of their past lovers.” I think even Gossip Girl would qualify that as TMI.
- Animal Cops: Phoenix (Animal, 10pm): “A skunk gets trapped in an elevator shaft.” Well that stinks.
- Table for 12 (TLC, 10pm): Series premiere. “Betty Hayes, mother of three sets of multiples (twins, twins, sextuplets), is sent to the spa on her birthday, while the rest of the family plans a special celebration at home.” Great. More stuff for her to clean up later.

FOX to Bring Bones and Family Guy Together
Posted by K.C. Morgan Categories: Animation, Comedy, Drama, Prime Time, FOX, Family Guy, Gossip, Spoilers,
In what could be one of the strangest cross-promotions FOX has ever tried (ponder the weight of that statement a moment), the night time drama Bones will soon feature an animated character from the ribald comedy Family Guy. That’s right, FOX fans: David Boreanaz and Stewie Griffin will soon share screen time.
Evidently, Boreanaz’s character will suffer hallucination-generating health problems during episodes of Bones which will air in May. He’ll end up in Quahog, Rhode Island, home to the animated Griffin family. “This is going to sound odd,” began executive producer Stephen Nathan, “but it is a completely believable event.”
He’s right…that does sound odd. And extremely, wholly unlikely.

Judge Rules in Favor of Family Guy
Posted by K.C. Morgan Categories: Animation, Comedy, Prime Time, FOX, Family Guy, Gossip,
FOX’s animated Family Guy is not guilty of copyright infringement, per court ruling, for a song parody featured in one of the episodes.
The episode offered up a new version of Disney’s “When You Wish Upon a Star,” which subsequently launched a lawsuit from the major corporation in 2007. The ditty originally appeared in the 1940 flick Pinocchio. The Family Guy version, “I Need a Jew,” was perhaps a little less family-friendly…but it wasn’t illegal.
Despite the content of the song - “anti-Semitic lyrics” - a U.S. District Judge ruled that the lyrics of the song and tone of the piece was “strikingly different” from the original version. Since winning the Academy Award for Best Original Song after its film debut, “When You Wish Upon a Star” has been recorded by more than one hundred subsequent recording artists and orchestras.

Sunday Ratings: Kings is No Ratings Ruler
Posted by Veronica Santiago Categories: Animation, Comedy, Drama, Prime Time, Reality, ABC, CBS, FOX, NBC, The CW, Amazing Race, The, Apprentice, The - Donald, Desperate Housewives, Family Guy, Ratings,
One of these evenings NBC will get it right. Just days after witnessing a painful debut by The Chopping Block, the network did it again. Yesterday’s premiere of Kings failed to deliver any power to the Sunday night lineup. CBS wound up winning the viewers while ABC topped the demos.
8pm
- The Amazing Race 14 (10.4 million, 3.0/8 in 18-49) picked up 200,000.
- Extreme Makeover: Home Edition (9.5 million, 3.0/8) did the same as last week.
- The Simpsons (6 million, 2.8/8) remained steady.
- Kings (6 million, 1.6/4) had the lowest demo of any original last night.
- King of the Hill (5.4 million, 2.4/6) added on 500,000.
- CW’s broadcast of Moonstruck (0.2/1) attracted 1.2 million.

Sunday Ratings: Celebrity Apprentice Pales Against Housewives
Posted by Veronica Santiago Categories: Animation, Comedy, Drama, Prime Time, Reality, ABC, CBS, FOX, NBC, The CW, Amazing Race, The, Apprentice, The - Donald, Desperate Housewives, Family Guy, Saturday Night Live, Ratings,
Looks like the economy isn’t the only thing Donald Trump should be worrying about. Despite a solid debut, The Celebrity Apprentice was served a cold dose of reality this week. When pitted against Sunday night regulars (Desperate Housewives, Cold Case), the reality hit showed signs of weakening. NBC’s performance helped CBS win the viewers while ABC took the demos.
8pm
- The Amazing Race (10.2 million, 3.0/8 in 18-49) lost 600,000 at the pit stop.
- Extreme Makeover: Home Edition (9.5 million, 2.9/8) slipped by 1.5 million.
- A Saturday Night Live special (2.1/6) and The Simpsons (2.8/8) both pulled in 6 million.
- King of the Hill (4.9 million, 2.4/6) gave up 1.8 million.
- CW’s broadcast of Easy Money (0.2/0) registered 900,000.

This Week on TV (3/9-3/15)

(You can view TV Envy’s Midseason Programming Schedule here.)
MONDAY 3/9)
- Dancing with the Stars (ABC, 8pm): Season premiere. “This season, a new feature in the early weeks is a dance-off between the bottom two couples facing elimination.” Steve Wozniak + moon walk = elimination-proof.
- The Big Bang Theory (CBS, 8pm): “The guys’ trip to San Francisco takes a detour once they learn that actress Summer Glau (appearing as herself) is on their train.” If you don’t already know who Summer Glau is, you probably shouldn’t be watching this show.
- How I Met Your Mother (CBS, 8:30pm): “Ted reunites with his college girlfriend (Laura Prepon), prompting Lily and Marshall to reveal how much they loathed the snooty woman.” From what I recall, one can easily bond with Prepon over a quick smoke break.
- Castle (ABC, 10pm): Series premiere. “Well-known mystery writer Richard Castle is questioned by a fiery detective about a serial killer reenacting murders from his books.” Kinda sounds like Basic Instinct, sans a naked Michael Douglas. Or Sharon Stone. Or Jeanne Tripplehorn.

Last night, viewers had a mixed bag of celebrities to choose from. On ABC, we had a special Brothers & Sisters event. On NBC, the two-hour premiere of Celebrity Apprentice. 8pm
- Approximately 12.6 million watched The Simpsons after a NASCAR overrun.
- Extreme Makeover: Home Edition (3.5/9 in 18-49) nailed down 11 million.
- The Amazing Race (10.8 million, 3.0/8) did better on this non-Oscars and/or holiday weekend night.
- King of the Hill (3.0/7) had 6.7 million laughing.
- A Saturday Night Live special (2.2/5) pulled in 5.9 million.

Sunday Ratings: Slow Start for Amazing Race
Posted by Veronica Santiago Categories: Animation, Comedy, Drama, Prime Time, Reality, ABC, CBS, FOX, NBC, The CW, Amazing Race, The, Desperate Housewives, Family Guy, Ratings,
Maybe viewers were simply enjoying their three-day weekend? Whatever the reason, the 14th installment of The Amazing Race saw smaller numbers than it had in the fall. Fortunately for CBS, the network’s numbers were still enough for first place with the viewers. ABC, in the meantime, had a hold on the demos.
8pm
- The Amazing Race 14 (9.3 million, 2.7/7 in 18-49) was down 1 million from Season 13.
- Dateline (8.9 million, 2.1/5) picked up 1.9 million.
- Extreme Makeover: Home Edition* (8 million, 2.5/6) lost 2.4 million.
- The Simpsons (6.8 million, 3.2/8) picked up 2 million; King of the Hill (5.3 million, 2.5/6) added on 500,000.

Sunday Ratings: TV Movies Can’t Topple Staples
Posted by Veronica Santiago Categories: Ratings,
Make no mistake: The Last Templar is no Da Vinci Code. Last night, the first half of NBC’s two-parter was outmatched by a repeat and a reality weeper. CBS’ Hallmark offering only did slightly better. By night’s end, the Eye network was on top with the viewers while ABC was a winner with the demos.
8pm
- Cold Case (13.3 million, 2.6/6 in 18-49) was up 8% from its last original episode.
- A 2-hour Extreme Makeover: Home Edition (11.6 million, 4.0/10) had the best demos of the night.
- Dateline (7.1 million, 1.9/5) was up 1.3 million.
- The Simpsons (2.6/6) averaged 5.5 million over two episodes.
- CW’s airing of Antitrust (0.3/1) registered 770,000.
